Breast Imaging Insights From Madrid – Swiss Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine

Swiss Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine shared a post on LinkedIn:

”SJORANM Community Spotlight

Naiara Linares Martínez

Today we welcome a breast-imaging perspective from Madrid, Spain: Naiara Linares Martínez, Head of Diagnostic Radiology at Sanitas Hospital Universitario La Moraleja.

Her clinical and educational work includes:

  • Mammography, tomosynthesis and contrast-enhanced mammography
  • Breast ultrasound, including automated breast ultrasound (ABUS)
  • Breast MRI
  • Breast interventions
  • Radiology education

Professional highlight: She became department head in 2025 after coordinating its breast-imaging section from 2020 to 2025. Her teaching of radiology residents dates from 2021.

Educational focus: What does an additional imaging plane add?

A 2024 SERAM conference poster co-authored by Linares Martínez describes a prospective, single-centre series of 35 ABUS examinations in male patients presenting with palpable breast lumps.

Its illustrated cases explore how multiplanar views can help assess retroareolar tissue.

The next question is how to demonstrate that added value.

This small, descriptive conference report provides no diagnostic-accuracy estimates and cannot establish superiority or routine indications for ABUS.

Naiara, thank you for following SJORANM and being part of our imaging community.

We’re glad to share the clinical and educational questions that connect us.
