Deedy Das on the “Cardiovascular Disease is a Solved Problem” Article
Deedy Das, Partner at Menlo Ventures, shared on LinkedIn:
”Heart disease is the N1 cause of death in modern nations, more than cancer.
It took the lives of 3 people I know just this year.
This beautiful easy-to-read article called “Cardiovascular Disease is a Solved Problem” cites copious medical research to argue that:
– heart disease and stroke, caused by plaque buildup in your arteries (atherosclerosis), arises from lifetime exposure to LDL cholesterol, particularly apoB, which is largely genetic.
– Preventatively taking statins (rosuvastatin) for 15USD/mo can reduce LDL levels by more than 50% with no major side effects and reduce lifetime plaque buildup, even as early as your 20s!
You should consult your doctor before taking medications, but it’s always worth thinking about heart disease early.
