Dr. Maha Othman: Thank You Thomas Reiser for Amazing Dedication for 14 Years at ISTH!
Professor Maha Othman, Chairman SSC on Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, reposted Thomas Reiser’s post on LinkedIn:
“Thank you Thomas Reiser for amazing dedication for 14 years at ISTH!
I’ve had the privilege of working with Tom on many occasions — through SSC strategic planning, committee initiatives, and collaborative projects. His insight, professionalism, and commitment have not only strengthened the Society but have truly made a difference in how the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) is situated and recognized in the global world.
Tom’s leadership has helped shape the field, build partnerships, and advance our shared mission. Beyond his achievements, he has always stood out as a person of integrity and generosity, whose positive influence will continue to resonate.
I also extend my congratulations Louise Bannon on her appointment as Interim Executive Director. I am confident her experience and leadership will ensure continuity and further growth for the ISTH during this transition.
Wishing Tom all the best in his next chapter — and looking forward to continued collaboration with Louise and the ISTH team.”
Quoting Thomas Reiser’s post:
“After more than 14 incredible years with the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), I have made the decision to step down as Executive Director at the end of this year.
Reflecting on this journey, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve such a remarkable organization and its vital global mission that I believe in so passionately.
Together with an extraordinary team, a caring and deeply committed Board and volunteers, and an inspiring global community, I am immensely proud of the impact we have achieved, the global collaborations we have fostered, and the impactful initiatives we have advanced that truly make a difference in people’s lives.
What has made this role most meaningful are the relationships with members, colleagues, partners, and peers around the world that have shaped me as a person and enabled both my own and our collective success. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.
As I look ahead beyond the end of this year, I’m taking some time for rest and reflection and also to prepare for my next chapter.
I look forward to pursuing new opportunities where I will continue to be able to bring my global experience, knowledge, connections, and perspectives to create purposeful impact.
Here’s to new beginnings – with deep gratitude for the past 14+ years, and great anticipation for all that lies ahead.
Watch this space ”
