Liver Cirrhosis with Portal Vein Thrombosis (PVT)
Portal vein thrombosis is a serious complication of liver cirrhosis. On ultrasound, it may appear as echogenic material within the portal vein with absent or reduced Doppler flow. Chronic PVT can lead to portal hypertension, splenomegaly, and the development of collateral vessels. Early detection by Doppler ultrasound is essential for timely management and to reduce complications.”
