Richard Kelly – Is it possible to discontinue anticoagulation in patients with PNH?
VJHemOnc shared on X:
“Is it possible to discontinue anticoagulation in patients with PNH?
Dr Richard Kelly commented on this in a recent interview at IPIG2025, which you can watch.”
Watch the full interview on VJHemOnc to explore whether anticoagulation withdrawal is feasible—and for whom
Can anticoagulation safely be discontinued in patients with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH)? This pressing clinical question was recently addressed by Dr. Richard Kelly during an interview at the International PNH Interest Group Congress (IPIG 2025). As treatment paradigms evolve with the advent of complement inhibitors, the traditional rationale for long-term anticoagulation in PNH patients is being actively re-evaluated”.
Dr. Kelly shares insights into emerging data, individualized risk stratification, and the potential for safe de-escalation of anticoagulant therapy in select patients with controlled hemolysis and no history of thrombosis.
