Toby Richards: WEHI Trial Solidifies IV Iron as Third-Trimester Standard
Toby Richards, Director of The Iron Clinic, Professor of Surgery at University College London, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Very Important trial from WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) looking at Anaemia in Pregnancy, this is now the second RCT showing IV iron is the preferred choice in the last trimester.
Iron deficiency remains a WHO top 5 cause of disability and disproportionately impacts women of reproductive ability. It ranks higher than having diabetes! Yet it is easy to treat with a 15-30 IV iron infusion.”
