Roopa Kohli-Seth: Advancing Vascular Access Excellence at Mount Sinai
Roopa Kohli-Seth, System Director, Institute for Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Institute for Critical Care Medicine’s (ICCM) Vascular Access Service (VAS) is comprised of three services, inclusive of peripheral venous access service (PVAS), central venous access service (CVAS), and vascular access service-tunneled (VAS-T). Spanning across three campuses, our dedicated team of catheter management specialists triages and maintains these services, minimizing the risk of central line complications, including infections, thrombosis, and misplacement. VAS significantly boosts operational efficiencies, achieving an average time to insertion within hours for temporary catheters and within two business days for tunneled catheters.
This week, the VAS team hosted its 4th Annual VAS Day, bringing together the entire Mount Sinai Health System community – including nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals. The event began with a keynote session, with opening remarks by Dianne Aroh Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Queens. It was followed by a 3K walk around Central Park with the Mount Sinai team. The second day consisted of an educational fair, featuring interactive displays, evidence-based practices, and innovations in vascular access care and maintenance.
VAS Day is a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, highlight advancements, and reinforce best practices in vascular access care and procedures.
Thank you to Anthony DeVivo, Mardisa Samson Ramos, Uleta Bruny-Fils, and Lynette Joy Romanovitch for your leadership, and to the rest of the VAS team for your constant commitment to our patients. Congratulations on an incredibly successful event!
Thank you for joining us.
