Raising Awareness of Acquired Haemophilia A Through Jenny’s Story – Haemophilia Foundation Australia
Haemophilia Foundation Australia shared a post on LinkedIn:
“‘Acquired haemophilia happens to one in 1.5 million people and it picked me. I was that one.’
Acquired haemophilia A is a very rare condition where a person’s immune system (a system that protects your body from diseases) develops antibodies, also known as inhibitors, that mistakenly target the body’s own clotting factors, most commonly factor VIII. It is not hereditary.
For Jenny, discovering she had Acquired haemophilia A was frightening. Thankfully, she was able to be successfully treated with the support of her hospital and Haemophilia Treatment Centre.”
