‘Congratulations to Jessica Garcia, MD, on receiving the 2025 HTRS/Novo Nordisk Clinical Scholar Award! Dr. Garcia’s commitment to advancing clinical care in bleeding disorders is paving the way for a healthier future.
Dr. Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Children’s Health. Her clinical focus is on hemostasis, where she leads the care of people with hemophilia. Dr. Garcia’s overarching career goal is to conduct research that informs and improves clinical care in hemophilia.
During her Clinical Scholar Award period, Dr. Garcia will be working under the guidance of her primary mentor, Ayesha Zia, MD, MSCS. Dr. Garcia aims to enhance her expertise in the management of patients with hemophilia who are at risk for or have established joint disease by continuing to hone her expertise in global and special coagulation assays, gain proficiency in joint health evaluation through point of care ultrasound and develop and implement a joint clinic for persons with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.’
