Abdulrahman Al Raizah: Mitapivat for Transfusion-Dependent Thalassemia – The ENERGIZE-T Phase 3 Trial
Abdulrahman Al Raizah, Mortality and Morbidity Meeting Lead, Adult Hematology Division at Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in The Lancet, adding:
“Just published in The Lancet, the ENERGIZE-T Phase 3 trial evaluated mitapivat in transfusion-dependent alpha and beta-thalassaemia, showing significant reductions in transfusion burden and cases of transfusion independence.
Following last year’s published ENERGIZE Phase 3 trial in non-transfusion-dependent thalassaemia, this second milestone underscores the clinical potential of oral pyruvate kinase activators across the full spectrum of thalassaemia management.
Participating in both the ENERGIZE trial last year and the ENERGIZE-T trial this year reflects the driving role of Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) and King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in advancing global clinical research in hemoglobinopathies.
Sincere thanks to Prof Ahmed Alaskar and the entire KAIMRC team for their support—and above all, to the patients whose trust makes this work possible.
Privileged to have served as the site Principal Investigator for both trials.”
