Ahmed Elshahat: Thrilled to Share Our Latest Paper on Opioid Overdose and Cardiovascular Mortality
Ahmed Elshahat, Cardiovascular Researcher, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleges co-authored, published in Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, adding:
“Thrilled to share our latest paper, just published in Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine:
‘Opioid overdose and cardiovascular disease-related mortality: a retrospective analysis using real-world data from the USA, 1999–2023′
We analyzed 25 years of CDC WONDER mortality data and identified 112,430 U.S. deaths in which both opioid overdose and cardiovascular disease were implicated.
Age-adjusted mortality rose nearly twelvefold over the study period, with the steepest escalation seen among Non-Hispanic Black adults.
With sincere thanks to our lead author Mohamed Fawzi Hemida, senior author Mustafa Al-jarshawi, and a wonderful international team.”
