Arianna Giannetti: Ever Wondered If Mechanical Stretch Could Play a Role in DVT?

Arianna Giannetti, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at LadHyX École Polytechnique, shared on LinkedIn:

”Ever wondered if mechanical stretch could play a role in deep vein thrombosis (DVT)?

I am very happy to share that our paper “Uniaxial cyclic stretch regulates the expression of thrombomodulin and von Willebrand factor on endothelial cells” is now published in Blood VTH

During my PhD at the Centre de Biologie Structurale (Université de Montpellier), we explored how mechanical forces shape endothelial behavior.

Our key findings:
1. Continuous 10% cyclic stretch increases antithrombotic Thrombomodulin.
2. Interrupted stretch increases prothrombotic von Willebrand factor.

This suggests that how veins stretch might influence DVT mechanisms more than we thought.

Huge thanks to our amazing collaborators across Bordeaux, Nîmes, and Montpellier

And grateful for support from the ANR Programme Investissements d’Avenir.”
