Advancing CAT Care: New Insights on Extended Anticoagulation from Gerotziafas and Tafur

Grigoris Gerotziafas, Professor of Hematology at the Faculty of Medicine, Sorbonne University, Paris, and Head of the Thrombosis Department at Tenon Hospital in Paris, shared an insightful post on LinkedIn:

“We are pleased to share the publication, led by Prof. Alfonso Tafur (Department of Medicine, Vascular Medicine, Endeavor Health, Evanston, Illinois, University of Chicago, USA), of an important article on “Extended anticoagulation in patients with cancer-associated venous thromboembolism.”

This work highlights the challenges and strategies for managing CAT in oncology care and underscores the impact of the API-CAT study on optimizing antithrombotic treatment for patients with cancer-associated thrombosis.
The article emphasizes the urgent need to establish dedicated cancer thrombosis clinics to support shared decision-making and provide tailored management for patients.

We are proud to contribute to this significant initiative in collaboration with:

  • CaVITE Thrombosis Center, Centre de Recherche Saint-Antoine (CRSA), INSERM U938, Sorbonne University, Paris, France, and
  • Center for Translational Research and Education, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood, Chicago, USA.

Together, we aim to bridge science and clinical practice, delivering patient-centered strategies that enhance diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis for individuals facing cancer-associated thrombosis.”
