Christian Schulze on The Role of TEE versus CT in the Detection of Left Atrial Thrombi
Christian Schulze, Professor of Medicine at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, shared on LinkedIn:
”New data on the role of TEE versus CT in the detection of left atrial thrombi.
TEE remains the gold standard for imaging of intracardiac thrombi with detection of LAA thrombi in 12% of pts scheduled for an ablation procedure on OAC.
Only 50% of these cases were detected by CT.
Both methods excluded thrombi in 80% of cases.
TEE shows high operator-dependency and CT is limited by flow conditions and timing.
Strong teamwork between cardiology and cardiovascular imaging!”
