Giacomo Buso: Some Papers Matter More Than Others, This One Does
Giacomo Buso, Internal Medicine Physician, Angiologist FMH at Spedali Civili Hospital, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”Some papers matter more than others. This one does.
Not only because it deals with the complex and fragile management of patients with vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS), but because of the people behind it.
This work, published on EJCRIM | European Journal of Case Reports in Internal Medicine was developed together with young, motivated medical talents from the State of Palestine, and I am genuinely proud of their commitment, curiosity, and clinical insight throughout the process.
vEDS reminds us daily that medicine is not about protocols alone.
It is about balance, experience, teamwork, and sometimes choosing not to intervene.
Misdiagnosis, inappropriate procedures, or interruption of therapy can have dramatic consequences.
Awareness truly saves lives.
Seeing this article recently cited by QS pro (Quotidiano Sanità) is meaningful, but what matters most to me is the message behind it:
- rare diseases need culture
- complexity needs shared knowledge
- young physicians need opportunities, trust, and mentorship
Spreading awareness about vEDS means protecting patients.
Working with these young colleagues means investing in the future of medicine, even, and especially, in difficult clinical contexts.”
