Giuseppina Caligiuri: Pathophysiological Challenges and Emerging Therapeutic Strategies in Acute Stroke
Giuseppina Caligiuri, Research Director in Cardiology and Immunology at Inserm, Vice Dean for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation at Université Paris Cité, Scientific Founder of Tridek-One and Kapto Medical, shared a post LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Stroke, adding:
“Opening the artery is not enough. Nearly half of patients with successful recanalization still fail to recover from Stroke.
Thromboinflammation, fueled by NETs, complement activation, no-reflow, and reperfusion injury, is the biology behind this gap.
We discuss the pathophysiological challenges but also the therapeutic strategies emerging from it: DNase trials, enhanced thrombectomy, biomimetic device coatings, complement inhibitors, and biomarker-guided precision approaches…
On a kind invitation from Johanna Ospel – with Umberto Pensato, Tyler Henry and Andrew Demchuk.”
