“VTE recurrences during extended anticoagulant treatment for Cancer Associated Thrombosis: New data from the APICAT study published in JACC Cardiooncology.
High-risk cancer sites (lung, colorectal, other GI cancers) and a history of VTE are associated with an increased risk of VTE recurrence.
The efficacy of the reduced-dose regimen (apixaban 2.5 bid) is consistent regardless of these predictors.
supporting the use of reduced-dose apixaban (2.5 mg bid) for extended anticoagulation, including these high-risk populations.”
