Jim Hoffman: Targeting NETosis to Restore Immune Homeostasis
Jim Hoffman, Former Technical Advisor at Cygnus Technologies, LLC, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“True, but we still need better therapies for all 3 circumstances: infections in the unvaccinated, post-vaccination breakthrough infections, and the smaller number of serious adverse reactions due to vaccine-related side effects.
We should try targeting NETosis dysregulation in response to all three. This extracorporeal therapy is performing well in case study treatments of advanced drug-refractory autoimmune disease.
We should see if it can help avert serious autoimmune disease, septic shock and promote recovery from unwanted symptoms sooner than standard treatments.
In addition to vaccination protection, which is designed and tested for efficacy in minimizing morbidity and mortality, we still need to investigate better therapies that offer hope of restoring immune system homeostasis in response to infections, regardless of vaccination status.
This NET removal therapy which I have been tracking and advocating for, should be tried for anyone having difficulty recovering from an infectious insult and a potential adverse response to vaccination.
Excessive and persistent NETosis induction and, more importantly, poor NET clearance are universal hallmarks of serious acute and post-infection chronic illness. (e.g Long Covid).
Removing hyperactivated NETs from the blood of lupus patients has recently been demonstrated to help restore immune system homeostasis in severe drug-refractory lupus.
Why not try this specific NET removal therapy for sick patients struggling to recover from an infectious insult or a serious adverse vaccination response?
