A Plasma Proteomic Signature of Antiphospholipid Syndrome – JTH

Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Dagmar van Mourik et al, adding:

“Plasma protein profile in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome and controls without antiphospholipid syndrome.

The study used two cohorts: a discovery cohort (61 APS patients versus 19 controls) and a verification cohort (77 versus 49).

Quantitative mass spectrometry of 159 plasma proteins found six proteins that differed consistently in clinically stable APS: alpha-1-acid glycoprotein 1, β2-microglobulin, complement C2, IGFALS, LRG1 and cystatin-C.

The authors suggest these point to subclinical inflammation and renal involvement.”
