An article ”The Risk of Bleeding in Pregnant Women with Acute Venous Thromboembolism Treated with Anticoagulants: An International Multi-Database Cohort Study”, published by Camille Simard et al. in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, sheds light on the safety use of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in pregnancy complicated by acute venous throembolism.
This multinational (Germany;Quebec) cohort study of 567 pregnant women with VTE treated with LMWH provided new data on bleeding risk during pregnancy.
The findings suggest that LMWH type and dosing frequency may not significantly impact bleeding risk, though further research is needed to refine anticoagulation strategies for optimizing maternal outcomes.
