Lukas Bastian Otto: Bow Hunter’s Syndrome as a Hidden Cause of Cerebellar Infarction
Lukas Bastian Otto, Neurology Research Resident at University Hospital Zurich, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in BMJ Case Reports, adding:
“Who knew that asking a patient to ‘look left’ could change the entire diagnosis?
Excited to share our latest BMJ Case Reports describing a rare presentation of Bow Hunter’s Syndrome causing recurrent embolic cerebellar infarctions from the non-dominant vertebral artery.
The case highlights the importance of thinking beyond static imaging—sometimes the diagnosis only becomes apparent with dynamic vascular assessment.
Together with Hakim Baazaoui and our supervisor Susanne Wegener, I had the pleasure of working on this case report.
A big thank you to our collaborators from Neurology, Ferdinand Otto, Neuroradiology, Miklos Krepuska, and Neurosurgery Menno Germans at the University Hospital Zurich—this case is a great example of what multidisciplinary teamwork can achieve.”
