Maciej Banach: What Is The Optimal Sleep Duration to Reduce Stroke Risk?
Maciej Banach, Vice-Rector for the Collegium Medicum at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Archives of Medical Science, adding:
”What is the optimal sleep duration to reduce stroke risk?
In a meta-analysis of 12 studies including almost 600,000 participants, just released in the 2/2026 issue of Archives of Medical Science (AMS) we found the optimal sleep duration to be 7–8 hours (not less than 7 and not more than 8 hours)
Interestingly, this was not confirmed by the MR analysis, which found no evidence of a causal association between sleep duration and stroke risk.”
