Michael Stark: How Glucocorticoids in Pregnancy Affect Fetal Development and Why It Matters

Michael Stark, Professor of Neonatal Medicine and Deputy Director of Clinical Research at the Robinson Research Institute, Director of Neonatal Medicine at the University of Adelaide and Head of Neonatal Services at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Adelaide, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Endocrine Reviews, adding:

“Our latest article about the critical role of glucocorticoids in pregnancy and the importance of understanding the underlying mechanisms of how they effect the fetus.

A significant step towards identifying ‘responsive subgroups‘ to optimise antenatal steroid therapy and move away from a simplistic one-size-fits-all approach to management of preterm birth.”
