M. Usman Ahmed: Platelets and Thrombosis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
M. Usman Ahmed, Clinical Researcher in Hematology (Non-Malignant) at the University of Strasbourg, shared on LinkedIn:
”As a young researcher working in the field of platelets, it’s a real honour to contribute chapter on Platelets in Inflammatory Bowel Disease for this Springer Nature portfolio book. Being included alongside world-famous scientists is not just exciting but genuinely inspiring.
In this chapter, we discussed how platelet activation can contribute to intestinal injury and increase the risk of thrombosis in IBD. We also looked at how platelets interact with immune cells and endothelium, linking inflammation and coagulation. Finally, we considered how targeting platelet function could open new possibilities for improving IBD treatment and outcomes.
I am deeply thankful to Jérémy Lagrange and Prof Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet, whose commitment made this chapter possible.
A big thank you as well to the editors Paolo Gresele, José A. López, Dominick J. Angiolillo and clive page for their kind invitation.
Read this chapter.”
