Shadi Tabibian: The Clinical Power of Patient Stories in Rare Bleeding Disorders
Shadi Tabibian, Deputy of research at Blood Diseases Research Centers in Iran University of Medical Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Priyanka Raheja et al., published in RPTH, adding:
“Listening to women matters, especially in bleeding disorders.
Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is often underestimated, yet in women with very rare bleeding disorders, it may be one of the earliest and most important clinical clues.
What I found especially valuable in this article is its focus on the patient perspective.
It reminds us that patient narratives are not just stories — they are clinically meaningful data.
When women describe the severity of bleeding, fatigue, anemia, disruption of daily life, and emotional burden, they are providing information that can directly improve recognition, diagnosis, and care.
This paper is an important reminder that better medicine begins not only with tests and algorithms, but also with listening carefully.
