Shernan Holtan: Latest Publication on PTCy
Shernan Holtan, Chief of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Professor of Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Cureus, adding::
“New to PTCy?
Read and bookmark our latest publication.
With most PTCy platforms, there is no immunosuppression given until PTCy starts on day plus 3.
That gives 3 days for those mature, potentially alloreactive T cells that went along for a ride with the stem cells in the infusion bag to throw a party.
Between infusion and day 3 (and sometimes later), that T cell party can lead to some pretty unique and even scary inflammatory manifestations.
The good news is that if you recognize the patterns, you can intervene and keep the patient safe.
Read our case report to learn more!”
