Stroke Science has leveled up, again!
This retrospective study, by Yi-Chung Lee et al., compares the clinical and neuroimaging characteristics of HTRA1-autosomal dominant cerebral small vessel disease (HTRA1-AD-cSVD) and cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL).
While the two conditions share overlapping features, temporal pole involvement is more frequent in CADASIL.
Notably, the study highlights a previously under-recognized high prevalence of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in HTRA1-AD-cSVD, suggesting the need for greater clinical awareness.
