Tehila Alter: Tracking Hematopoietic Cell Engraftment in Bone Marrow Using CEST MRI

Tehila Alter, Scientific Staff at the Weizmann Institute of Science, shared Zinia Mohanta’s post on LinkedIn, adding։

”What an exciting way to start the week!

It’s incredibly meaningful to see brilliant researchers recognizing the hard work and game-changing potential of this study!

Haven’t read our paper yet? Here’s your chance!”

Zinia Mohanta, Staff Research Scientist at Kennedy Krieger Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Tehila Alter et al., published in Theranostics, adding:

”Tracking cells deep within bone marrow using CEST MRI!

An exciting new study published in Theranostics demonstrates the potential of a dual CEST MRI-fluorescent reporter system for tracking hematopoietic cell engraftment in deep bone marrow.

The researchers combined SuperCESTide, a genetically encoded CEST MRI reporter, with the fluorescent protein mScarlet-I, enabling noninvasive MRI detection alongside fluorescence-based validation.

Interesting finding- reporter-expressing cells were detectable in the bone marrow 8 weeks after transplantation, with complementary imaging techniques confirming their presence.

What makes this work particularly exciting is its potential to advance longitudinal tracking of engineered cells in deep tissues, an important step toward evaluating cell- and gene-based therapies.”
