Franky Biles: Celebrating Diversity and Driving Inclusion Through Representation

Franky Biles, Cyber Security Engineer at Lloyds Banking Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:

” ‘Making change for people you’ll never meet.’

You ever feel how awards night for inclusion hits different to tech, finance, or any others?

Nobody is trying to outdo each other; we’re united in the same cause and are the sum of all of its parts. The most wholesome celebration.

Investing in Ethnicity awards 2026 was full of spicy food and spicier jokes, hosted by legend Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Rich heritage filled the room, the music was eclectic, we had Turkish dancers and even the choir who sang at Prince Harry’s wedding.

Faves were the Turkish Cypriot drummers who banged the atmosphere through the roof. Nobody dances quite like an international room!

One of my favourite awards was to humble, yet long standing Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Support Project (Wolverhampton) , least of all because I’ve never known of support for my Thalassemia blood condition, but because for 40 years he felt his impact was a small one.

Well recognised! Great to see chat show host Trisha, M People singer Heather Small and iconic Baroness June Sarpong receive awards too.

Seems odd that for 4 years I’d been too scared to ever wear this sparkly dress out – a metaphor for feeling out of place in your own world, perhaps?

Well all those feelings dissipated in a room of diverse clothes, skin colour, religion, values, styles, accents and everything in between.

Grateful for the hard graft in an even harder year for ethnicity, to Jing Chang Ellie F. Mubeen Quadir Kirsty Jackson ACIPD Stephen Komagum Rachel Osikoya Keryn L and everyone collaborating with our LBG inclusion networks.

My challenge to the industry, though, is to see more East and South East Asian and Latinx and Hispanic representation at these things, as well as on the agenda of cultural diversity and change.”
