Wael AlAnazi: Exceptional HLA-Matched Transplant Outcomes With Novel Thiotepa-Based Conditioning

Wael AlAnazi, Chairman and Hematology-Oncology Consultant at King Fahad Specialist Hospital Dammam, shared Syed Osman Ahmed‘s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“Impressive results!!!

I think this may be reference for sickle cell disease transplantation.

Do you have similar observations in Thalassemia?”

Syed Osman Ahmed, Consultant and Adult Hematologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Reem Alasbali et al. published in Bone Marrow Transplantation, adding:

“Outstanding outcomes in HLA-matched related donor transplant in adolescents and adults with sickle cell disease!

  • 100% 2 year survival
  • 0% Transplant related mortality
  • 0% graft failure
  • 0% Chronic Graft versus host disease
  • Only 4% severe acute GVHD

Practice changing.

Congratulations to the authors of this collaborative work by Reem Alasbali et al led by Ali AlAhmari of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center and teams from Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville and Imperial College London.”
