”Publication Announcement

We are proud to present the article: “10° vs. 22° Celsius Cold Fluid Bolus Does Not Affect Hemostasis in Healthy Adults – A Randomized Crossover Trial”

The article is available at the following link.

In this study, we investigated how a 1 liter bolus of cold Ringer’s lactate affects hemostasis. Our hypothesis was to examine the effects of administering 1 liter of Ringer’s lactate at 10 °C , versus 22 °C on hemostasis.

Highlights:

  • Administration of cold intravenous fluids can provide positive hemodynamic effects.
  • A bolus of cold Ringer’s lactate slightly prolonged clotting time by 2.6 seconds.
  • Cold fluid administration had minimal impact on overall hemostasis.
  • 1 liter of 10 °C Ringer’s lactate was deemed safe in healthy adults.
