Plasma Protein Forum 2025: From Anti-D Plasma and Blood Supply Incentives to the Future of AI

”The final day of the Plasma Protein Forum began with an informative keynote from Dr. Mario Macis of The Johns Hopkins University – Carey Business School, who provided research-driven perspectives on incentive-based behaviors and patterns, remarking that “Incentives can meaningfully and safely increase the blood supply.”
The following panel examined the lifesaving role of anti-D plasma with insights from patients, donors, and scientific and regulatory experts.
Patients-turned-donors shared their personal stories, moving the audience and inspiring applause.
Katie Shanahan of the The Allo Hope Foundation said that “It’s a bittersweet experience to pain into purpose.”
The day closed with an engaging discussion on AI in the plasma industry and broader health care.
Expert panelists shared case studies on technological innovations; Jan Hartmann, M.D. noted that “AI can help us optimize our efficiencies as organizations.”
In all, the conversations over the last few days sparked new ideas and reinforced the importance of advocacy, innovation, and collaboration.
