Marilena Vrana: What An Inspiring Week at The 2025 Plasma Protein Forum and Business Forum
Marilena Vrana, Vice President at the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) Europe, shared on LinkedIn:
”What an inspiring week at the 2025 Plasma Protein Forum and Business Forum.
The speaker lineup delivered a wealth of insights into how the plasma sector is evolving amid rapidly changing operating environments.
Across three days, discussions ranged from:
- Changing trade policies and their impact on supply chain resilience
- Harnessing real-world data to enhance donor safety
- Aligning regulatory frameworks to improve plasma collection and ensure consistent product quality
- The rising role of AI in every part of the value chain
One standout session focused on anti-D plasma collection.
Patients, donors and clinical experts shared their experiences and highlighted what it will take to expand access in anti-D immunoglobulin, a life-saving therapy for mothers and newborns.
Ben, a dedicated plasma donor, summed it up powerfully: “The stories keep motivating me to come back and keep donating.”
His donations alone helped provide over 52,800 doses of this critical therapy – a testament to the extraordinary impact one individual can have.
His reminder that “word-of-mouth is huge” is a call to all of us to keep raising awareness!
The momentum in this sector is stronger than ever and collaboration will be key to unlocking what comes next.
For those who attended:
- What sessions or discussions made the biggest impression?
- Which topics should carry forward to IPPC 2026 in Milan?
Let’s keep the conversation going!”
