‘These evidence-based guidelines are a key resource for clinicians to improve the quality of care for this vulnerable population,” said ASH President Belinda R. Avalos, MD.
ASH and ISTH have jointly published updated clinical guidelines for the management of pediatric venous thromboembolism (VTE), featured in Blood Advances.
These new recommendations reflect the latest evidence since ASH’s last update in 2018.
Developed by a multidisciplinary panel, the guidelines address critical aspects of pediatric VTE care—including decisions about whether to initiate treatment, management of acute thrombosis, and tailoring therapy to specific clinical scenarios.
In total, 16 recommendations were revised, and 4 new ones were introduced.
The updated guidelines represent a significant step forward in standardizing and advancing pediatric thrombosis care globally!
