A recent study using 7 Tesla (7T) MRI explored plaque characteristics and lenticulostriate artery (LSA) morphology in patients with symptomatic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis and unexplained early neurological deterioration (END).
Findings identified key risk factors for END, including larger infarct size, elevated LDL levels, and plaques located at the openings of LSAs on the MCA wall.
These high-resolution insights highlight the potential of ultra-high-field imaging to improve risk stratification and guide targeted interventions in intracranial atherosclerotic disease.
