Luca Palombi: Real-Time Assessment of Venous Hemodynamics During Movement With DUS
Luca Palombi, Vascular Surgeonabout at Cura Vene Roma, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
“What happens to venous flow when patients start moving?
Most venous ultrasound exams are performed at rest.
But venous disease is anything but static!!
hemosIn our publication, we explore how Dynamic Duplex Ultrasound (DUS) allows real-time assessment of venous hemodynamics during movement, capturing flow patterns that conventional static exams may miss.
By combining portable ultrasound technology with a dedicated fixation system, we were able to observe:
- rhythmic flow spikes during walking
- dynamic activation of the calf muscle pump
- functional venous behavior in real-life conditions
This approach shifts venous ultrasound from a static snapshot to a functional, physiologic evaluation.
How do you see dynamic ultrasound changing venous diagnostics in daily practice?
Let’s discuss in Vein in Venice Symposium! You are still on time to be part of it.”
