Haroun Gajraj: A Must-Have Atlas for Venous Duplex and Phlebology
Haroun Gajraj, Director of The VeinCare Academy, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I have one wish…
I wish I had this book years ago…
For years I’ve struggled to find a book on Venous Duplex I could confidently recommend to doctors with a major interest in sclerotherapy.
Most books start with scary equations and the ‘physics’ quickly puts people off.
Not this book!
‘Atlas Phlebology and Doppler Ultrasound: Diagnosis and Treatment’ by Dr Javier Pérez Monreal is a pictorial delight. I have never seen so many high quality illustrations and photographs.
It follows real clinical workflows: careful duplex mapping first, then a broad range of endovenous options, including foam sclerotherapy, thermal ablation, mechano‑chemical, cyanoacrylate and other non‑thermal techniques.
As someone whose practice and teaching are centred on sclerotherapy, I especially value the focus on haemodynamics rather than isolated vein segments.
Understanding reflux patterns, tributaries and perforators on duplex is what allows us to decide when sclerotherapy alone is enough, when to combine it, and how to sequence treatments for durable, cosmetic results.
This is not a book to read from cover to cover.
It is a high‑level atlas for vein specialists, vascular surgeons and sonographers who want to improve their duplex‑guided decision making.
In my UK practice, it’s exactly the kind of resource I want next to the ultrasound machine and in the hands of colleagues I’m training.
Thank you Javier Pérez Monreal for sending me this book as a gift for my feedback.
I congratulate you on the enormous work that has gone into it and for assembling such a long list of expert contributors.
I highly recommend it to my colleagues and students.”
