Aafreen Kotadiya: Why a Great Blood Bank Team is a Rare and Powerful Asset in Transfusion Medicine
Aafreen Kotadiya, Consultant and Incharge Transfusion Medicine at S. L. Raheja Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Why a Great Blood Bank Team Is a Rare and Powerful Asset In transfusion medicine, safety is never the work of one person.
It is the result of a team that works silently, precisely, and tirelessly behind the scenes.
Today, I want to take a moment to appreciate the incredible team that stands at the heart of our blood bank.
From technicians ensuring accurate testing and crossmatching, to nurses coordinating safe blood donations, to attendants maintaining seamless workflow and logistics, every member contributes to maintaining quality at every step of the transfusion chain.
Every day, they handle critical tasks that demand precision, vigilance, and responsibility – ensuring that the right blood reaches the right patient at the right time.
Working in transfusion medicine constantly reminds me that excellence in healthcare is never individual – it is collective.
I feel deeply grateful to work alongside a team whose dedication, discipline, and quiet commitment to patient safety make high-quality transfusion services possible every single day at my centre.
A good team is truly an asset that few are blessed with — and I am fortunate to have one. (Sharing a glimpse of the people who make it all happen.)
And to my team: Thank you for your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment.
You are all my unsung heroes!
What are some ways your teams contribute behind the scenes to ensure patient safety in your departments?”
