Clinical Practice Guidelines for Platelet Transfusion in Non-Surgical and Non-Traumatic Settings – CEBaP
Centre for Evidence-Based Practice (CEBaP) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Yana Criel et al, adding:
“New publication!
CEBaP is pleased to share our latest systematic review, now published in Blood Reviews, on clinical practice guidelines for platelet transfusion in non-surgical and non-traumatic settings.
In this study, we identified 30 clinical practice guidelines, formulating a total of 89 recommendations on platelet transfusion. We summarized recommendations in interactive evidence maps in relation to their target population and transfusion indication, and critically appraised methodological quality using the AGREE II framework.
Key takeaways:
- Our interactive evidence maps of clinical practice recommendations can aid clinicians in making evidence-based decisions on platelet transfusion
- There is a clear need for more rigorous and transparent guideline development, as indicated by the poor to moderate methodological quality of most included guidelines
This publication represents the first outcome of our excellent research collaboration between Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen and the Department of Hematology of UZ Leuven.
