Ivan Tesakov: Unraveling Platelet Dysfunction in ETV6-Related Thrombocytopenia

Ivan Tesakov, Research Fellow of Translational Hematology and Immunology at Tübingen University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in British Journal of Haematology, adding:

“I am pleased to share that our work on ETV6-related thrombocytopenia has just been published in the British Journal of Haematology.

In this study, we identify impaired cytoskeletal organization as a key driver of platelet dysfunction in this rare disorder, leading to defective shape change and altered thrombus formation.

We also observe alterations in platelet–neutrophil cross-talk, further pointing to a broader dysregulation of thrombo-inflammatory processes.

These findings provide a mechanistic explanation for the bleeding phenotype observed in affected patients and may help inform future diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

This work represents a large, long-term collaborative project.

For me, it is particularly meaningful as my first experience serving as corresponding author and as the culmination of a sustained joint effort.

I am very grateful to all co-authors and colleagues for their contributions.

I am always happy to discuss the work and answer any questions.”
