Rucha Patil: Insights on Strengthening Hemophilia Care in India from IHC X 2026
Rucha Patil, Scientist at Department of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, ICMR- National Institute of Immunohaematology, shared on LinkedIn:
”Honoured to participate in the Initiative on Hemophilia Care (IHC X 2026) held on 15th April 2026 at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi, organised by the Hemophilia Federation (India).
Aligned with World Hemophilia Day 2026, the initiative brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, Indian Council of Medical Research, National Health Mission, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) ICMR-NIRBID, state health officials, and community stakeholders on a single platform.
The focus remained on strengthening hemophilia care systems in India through early diagnosis, improved access to treatment, and sustainable long-term support for patients and families.
I had the opportunity to contribute as a speaker on:
- Cost-effectiveness analysis of hemophilia treatment in the Indian context
- Importance of carrier screening and prenatal testing
The discussions were highly engaging, with valuable insights from national and state-level health representatives, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based policy and collaborative action in rare disease care.
The programme once again highlighted that meaningful progress in hemophilia care is possible only through strong partnerships, shared learning, and sustained commitment across stakeholders.”
