Love Preet Kalra: Honored to Present Our Data on Plasma GFAP Measurements for ICH at ESOC 2026
Love Preet Kalra, Resident Doctor and Clinical Researcher in Neurology Department at RKH Klinikum Ludwigsburg, shared on LinkedIn:
”It was a great honor to present our feasibility data on prehospital plasma GFAP measurements for ICH detection at ESOC in Maastricht.
Over 1.5 years (till November 2025) our highly motivated EMS team performed 173 prehospital test attempts in patients with suspected stroke and coma using the Abbott i-STAT Alinity platform after centrifugation with a mobile centrifuge.
This workflow was far from simple: blood sampling, centrifugation, plasma preparation, and point-of-care measurement all had to be performed under real prehospital emergency conditions.
Despite these challenges, our EMS colleagues generated an impressive amount of data and showed what is possible when clinical innovation meets true dedication.
With the recent introduction of the whole-blood GFAP test, this process may become much easier and more scalable for prehospital stroke care.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible EMS team (DRK Ludwigsburg and ASB Ludwigsburg).
Your motivation, persistence, and professionalism made this project possible.”
