Mahmoud Alhariri: Apixaban in Hemodialysis-Treated Kidney Failure With Newly Diagnosed AF
Mahmoud Alhariri, Senior Attending Physician at Helios Universitätsklinikum Wuppertal, Hypertensiologe at Deutsche Hochdruckliga e.V. DHL, Lipidology Specialist at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Lipidologie e. V. (DGFL), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Wolfgang C. Winkelmayer et al., published in American Journal of Kidney Diseases, adding:
“Among patients with hemodialysis-treated kidney failure, compared with no anticoagulation, initiation of apixaban soon after newly diagnosed AF was associated with lower risks of ischemic stroke, a composite thromboembolic end point, and all-cause mortality but higher rates of clinically meaningful bleeding.”
