Jesse Solar: Supporting Safer Pregnancies Through Clot Awareness
Jesse Solar, Vascular Territory Manager at Penumbra, Inc., shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Please share this post if you know any soon to be, or new Mothers: Pregnant women are 4-5 times more likely to develop a blood clot than non-pregnant women.
The highest risk during pregnancy is the 3rd trimester, and risk becomes dramatically higher several months postpartum.
To avoid clots, first discuss the risks and make a game plan with your doctor.
The plan should include regular exercise during pregnancy and as soon as you’re able to walk postpartum, hydration, elevating your legs while resting, and knowing the signs and symptoms to watch out for.
Once again, please share this with soon to be or new Mothers, and Happy Mother’s Day!”
