Carol Bewick: Why the Global Community Makes EHA 2026 Unforgettable

Carol Bewick, Chief Executive Officer at British Society for Haematology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A conference is a conference is a conference.

Tails at passport control.

Cheap hotels.

Too many people.

Sore feet.

Constant tiredness.

Unless you’re at the right one!

There are two I love ours British Society for Haem of course and European Hematology Association (EHA) .

Why did I enjoy eha2026?

  • It’s got to be the people.
  • I’m not a clinician – the incredible science can go over my head but…I get to catch up with other national societies.

What are they doing?

How are they doing it?

What’s working?

What isn’t?

While the incredible European Hematology Association (EHA) team work their socks off I get to indulge in conversations with ASH, the ever enthusiastic Brazilians and Turkish teams, the Italians and Japanese.

Not to mention the Swedish, Portuguese and Czechs.

For the first time this year I got to meet the Chinese Society for Hematology.

Everyone has something to share and to inspire me.

Meanwhile I got incredible news from the UK.

My brother-in-law Nigel Coates had been awarded an MBE.

He has been a quiet star guiding young lives and businesses for years.

Even when personal tragedy struck.

Seeing him recognised was the icing on this week’s cake.

Congratulations Nigel.

Gill would have been so proud”
