Moeen Hoseini: The Sex-Specific Associations Between Inflammatory Biomarkers and Vascular Events
Moeen Hoseini, Research Collaborator and Assistant at Urmia University of Medical Sciences, shared on LinkedIn:
”I am pleased to announce that our latest research project, ‘Sex-Specific Associations of Systemic Inflammatory Biomarkers with Acute Coronary Syndrome versus Ischemic Stroke in Middle East’, has been submitted for peer review.
In this prospective study, our team at Urmia University of Medical Sciences aimed to address a critical gap in cardiovascular literature.
While systemic inflammation is known to influence vascular events, the nuanced interactions between biological sex and inflammatory biomarkers (such as hs-CRP and WBC count) in Middle Eastern populations remain under-explored.
Why this matters:
Our study highlights the importance of moving beyond ‘one-size-fits-all’ risk assessment models, especially when considering the distinct pathophysiological pathways between ischemic stroke and coronary events.
We believe that integrating sex-stratified data into clinical decision-making could ultimately improve secondary prevention strategies for high-risk patients.
I look forward to sharing the full results once the manuscript completes the peer-review process and is published.
I am truly grateful to my supervisors and colleagues at Imam Khomeini and Seyyed al-Shohada hospitals for their invaluable collaboration on this work.”
