Maha Sallam: What Baseline Hemoglobin Reveals About SCA
Maha Sallam, Alahsa Health Cluster Laboratory and Blood Bank Service Line Lead at Alahsa Health Cluster, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Blood Global Hematology:
“I am pleased to share the publication of our latest research article in Blood Global Hematology:
‘Deciphering the Correlation between Baseline Hb and the Clinical Spectrum of SCA: A Multi-Regional Cohort Analysis’
This study provides valuable insights into the relationship between baseline hemoglobin levels and the clinical spectrum of sickle cell anemia (SCA) across multiple regions and patient populations.
The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of disease heterogeneity and support more informed approaches to patient stratification, clinical decision-making, and long-term care planning.
Beyond the scientific findings, this work highlights the growing importance of leveraging laboratory and clinical data as strategic assets in advancing precision medicine, improving population health outcomes, and supporting value-based healthcare models.
As healthcare systems continue to evolve, the ability to transform data into actionable knowledge will be increasingly critical to delivering better outcomes for patients and communities.
I am honored to have contributed to this collaborative effort alongside an exceptional group of researchers and clinicians.
My sincere appreciation goes to all co-authors, participating institutions, and patients whose contributions made this work possible.”
