Regan Bucciol: The Emerging Role of Erythrocytes in Thrombosis

Regan Bucciol, MD Student at Toronto Metropolitan University, Clinical Research Assistant at University Health Network, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Proud to share the publication of the Special Issue ‘Red Blood Cell Contributions to Thrombosis and Hemostasis’ in Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, where I had the privilege of serving as Co-Guest Editor.

This issue highlights the rapidly evolving understanding of erythrocytes in thrombosis.

Once viewed primarily as passive rheological elements, they are now increasingly recognized as active contributors to thrombus formation, architecture, and stability.

These advances continue to reshape our understanding of hemostasis and thrombotic disease.

I am deeply grateful to Maha Othman, my long-standing mentor and Co-Guest Editor, as well as Dr. Emmanuel J Favaloro, Editor-in-Chief of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, the journal’s Editorial Board, and all contributing authors and reviewers whose expertise made this issue possible.”
