Thomas F. Lüscher: ZEUS Trial Highlights the Challenge of Translating Anti-Inflammatory Effects into Clinical Benefit

Thomas F. Lüscher, Director of Research, Education and Development and Consultant of Cardiology at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“ZEUS has been angry: Ziltivekimab reduced IL-6 and hsCRP, but did not translate into MACE risk reduction versus placebo in patients with ASCVD, CKD and inflammation (HR 0.99; CI 0.88-1.11) – will Artemis (AMI) and Hermes (HfpEF) be in better mood?

It is important to continue with these trials as CKD patients may be different, too late in the course of CVD to make a difference with IL-6 blockade.”
