Eduardo Soares: Neuroinflammation After Ischemic Stroke
Eduardo Soares, Postdoctoral Researcher at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Translational Stroke Research, adding:
“Recently, my former colleagues at Amsterdam UMC and I published our review, ‘Neuroinflammation in Ischemic Stroke: Mechanisms, Systemic Interactions, and Therapeutic Targets,’ in Translational Stroke Research.
We follow the immune response after stroke over time and across the body, from the brain – CNS borders – cervical lymph nodes, spleen and (skull) bone marrow – gut – blood, including the potential neuroprotective role of Tregs.
The idea behind the review is simple: to bring together, in a more systematic way, the timing and systemic nature of both pro- and anti-inflammatory responses after stroke, providing a clearer picture of what happens, where, when, and its potential consequences, and ultimately helping guide more precise translational approaches for stroke patients.
It was a fun learning process, going from the clinical picture – cellular responses – molecular mechanisms.
